So...I lost a model release, but I would like to really use the shot (fun modeling shoot with a friend, but I lost touch with her and have no way of tracking her down) in my portfolio.
Can I do that as I hold the copyright on the image? I thought a release was only intended for commercial purposes (though I haven't done much with people for a long time) and re-printing or selling.
I worry about if the girl were to see the image on my website and try to sue me (it wasn't lewd or anything like that, but there are some pretty sick people in this world you know).
I hear mixed views on this whenever I click on a topic. In the original release, it just stated that she gives me the right to take a picture of her, but the image is owned by the photographer. The problem is I don't have that physical document anymore.
