The image is very good, both the crop and composition. The comment on photo.net about the tilt of the eyes is nitpicky, and I wouldn't have noticed otherwise... but I guess you could rotate it slightly if you wanted. The off-center composition is interesting; with the tight crop it might be good for an advertisement of some sort.

Did you simply desaturate as stated? That's probably fine (and it looks quite good,) but you might want to play with the PS channel mixer for your B&W effect. Or use one of Fred Miranda's B&W actions. They can give a slightly better effect than desaturating or using PS's grayscale conversion. Not a big issue.
