I use an Apple, and therefore input my photos straight into iPhoto [I only shoot jpeg, haven't ventured to RAW yet]. First of all, would you recommend using the Canon software over iPhoto? What about straight into Photoshop?
What is my best avenue to get the images onto the Mac?

Second question, how do I view my EXIF information after I have put the pictures onto the computer?

Thanks

ps. I wasn't sure where to ask this, but this seemed like the most sensible place to me.

If I'm not using RAW, I use Image Capture (should be in your applications folder) to import images from a card reader, and then I use Photoshop CS's Image Browser to view and open the images. I hate iPhoto - it always opens when I insert a card, even though I have Image Capture set to open automatically in my preferences. Therefore, iPhoto got dumped into the trash can. One of my favorite aspects of Image Capture is that it generates image thumbnails, so it's much easier to find your images when you are browsing through your folders.

Select your photo, then right click (or ctrl click) and select show info. The dialogue has some tabs: select the one you want and there is your info.

In my view the best way to get your info into any computer is to use a card reader.

If you use PS for editing:
Go to iPhoto Preferences
Where it says Double Click, select open application and choose PS.

This will mean iPhoto is your organizer, and can do basic editing, while double clicking an image will open it in PS. When you close in PS the changes will be saved in iPhoto.

iPhoto is a fine application, and has all sorts of features that are so simple to use.

A note for your future: iPhoto's current handling of RAW images is a bit strange - have a read up on it on the Apple site.
