Just happened to see this couple when I was out and about at The Oratory in Montreal. Never seen a Vietnamese dress before so took a snap.

That is a semi-traditional dress. The traditional Vietnamese dress is the Áo Dài (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aodai). This dress is a little more modern with a touch of Chinese long dress split in the front.

The hat is a traditional and old-school one.

Still a nice dress / shot.

Thanks! A friend told me it is traditional however she's Canadian born so guess she's not that well versed in viet dresses.

I think it still is a traditional ao dai. These dresses changed with fashion and the one she has on is really made for brides. The gold designs on there are the phoenix and dragon that represents 'love birds' and goes along with the love and happiness theme . Most brides wear the ones that splits down the middle nowadays. Just my 2 cents. =)
