WOW I just saw one at best buy in the case next to the older Rebel and a 20D. I just can’t see holding that small of a camera with my big hands. I am glad I went for 2- 20D's and did not wait for the XT rebel. Any one also feel it is too small??

That's why I chose the 300D. I waited until the 350D came out, I'm a beginner so I didn't want to shell out for the 20D.

Yea, I had the option for the XT, but one...I didn't need the 8 pixels, as 6.3 is plently for my use. Secondly, I liked the heaviness of the 300d...I'm a bug guy with big mitts...so having something to grasp and not fear dropping it is nice. I also have a Nikon Coolpix 5200...it's a nice P&S camera, but it's really tiny and I feel that sometimes I'll crush it in my hands.

I don't have big hands, and I found the XT too small for my liking. Don't get me wrong, it's a sweet, gorgeous camera, however just too small for me.

It should be easy to check the size of a camera body to see if your hands are compatible. Specifically, check on the size of the various buttons and controls.
If things don't work the way you expect, then you may have to get an upgrade on your hands.

Ha! ;)
Well, for overall size the Xt is an amazing piece of packaging. Plenty of P&S are much smaller etc.
Of course, the XT is not a point and shoot and offers a pile of ways in which to alter settings for creativity - and therein lies the challenge for me. I like the size, but that size impacts on the controls and their use. It just feels cramped to me. If I was going to use this camera in Auto mode all the time, then maybe that's OK.
I like the size and price very much, but the ergonomics and other benefits of the 20D are attracting me more.
But you gotta admit - an amazing bit of packaging!

I was going to buy a Ferrari but it has a tiny little key that felt funny in my big hands, so I bought a Buick. It has a giant key and it feels good to a big handed guy like me. Besides, women have been lying to me all my life about size doesn't matter. In short the Univac was a much more satisfying computer than a Mac. The Univac filled an entire room. And on and on and . . .
I think if one searches the digital SLR marketplace, one should find a camera of compatible size and the necessary features to keep one happy. I would be surprised if anyone got a more suitable camera by complaining about it's size in this or any other forum.

I actually just bought the Xt tonight and I love the feel. I learned pretty much everything I know on one of the original Rebel G film cameras so my hands feel right at home on this baby.

I didn't really find it too small anyway but I think it's a perfect size when grouped with the battery grip.
It all depends on personal preference though. Some people find it too small; some others find it just right.

Camera feel is an individual thing, but I saw the XT next to the 20D about 2 weeks ago, and I couldn't believe how small it was. It was a bit bigger than my G2. Really amazing. For me though, I like the 20D size, and I'm glad that's the way I went.

Went from Digital Rebel to the XT. The size excellent! You really have to pick it up and play with it for a while. Only you can really decide.
Also the proper way to hold a camera is right hand on grip and left hand under lens. My 17-40L f4 and 70-200L f4 balances nicely if held this way on the XT.

Personally, the smaller size of the XT is what attracted me. I felt the 300D and 20D a bit too bulky for personal use. I like the concept of power in smaller packages!

I liked the look of the 350, but it didn't feel right in my hands so gonna get the 20D. Each to their own!

well i have pretty big hands and just returned my 300 d, without trying the xt out in my hands. i have a very small canon camcorder so i hope it wont be too much of a nusciance. not as much of a nusciance as the oh so slow write speed of the 300d. but i guess there are pluses and minuses to everything. i will be ok with the smaller size, just as long as the xt is faster to start up and faster to write. these 2 things were driving me insane, as many of my pics are of kids and when you get them smiling its time to snap away, and the 300 d only let you get 4 shots (4?) within a ten second time frame when shooting raw. hell i might wait for 20 minutes to get some smiles, when i get em, i want the ability to grab 10 or so shots. plus the slow startup didnt seem like a problem at first, but i have missed 3 or 4 good shots in the one month i owned the camera waiting for it to come on. so i guess ill have to live with the small size, hopefully it wont be too much of an issue. maybe ill grab the battery grip for weight and size. who would think that in this day, people would actually prefer to have bigger electronics. hasnt it lways been cool for electronics to be small? (ipods getting smaller, tvs getting thinner, camcorders are tiny, and dont forget the calculator wristwatch....) i for one like the fact that peopel prefer to rock the marketing boat and voice their opinion on going too small. i bet canon will increase the size on the next rebel release. or at least they wont go smaller.:D

After years of getting a stiff neck through carrying a canon f1 around the 350 is a dream.
I think you will find it's what you get used to.

smittymike19 the XT however smaller then a 10d or 20d quite nice to hold with big hands. I don't have small hands either and the 350d holds nicely. Yesterday I got a chance of holding the 10d and 350d besides one and other (thnx Rob).
Due to the button layout, for example over or under exposure, it really needs to be that small or else the combo will be uneasy to make. (while the 10d does have a nice rotator button for that :( )
And for the specs part: the 350d does about 11Mbyte/sec writing to a CF card. So it's bloody fast. Be sure to get at least a 13Mbyte/sec writable CF card.
