Congrats on the purchase, and thanks for the awesome photos from Norway! I visited Oslo back in 2001, but never got a chance to go out of the city and see the beautiful countryside and fjords :( So yeah, post more photos!
Oh, and update your sig :D
Thanks man! I will post more photos later today or tomorrow :)

I must confess I treat my TSE 24 more of a landscape lens than architectural use. I'm suppose to visit more cities to take buildings with this lens than going around taking nature stuffs like you guys did!

Much more improved over the MK I. The one feature that stands out with the MK II is basically no CA. :) That means sharper images sooc. ;)

Training wheels picture... :) A bit of shift to get the top of the rock on the left in the frame, and a bit of tilt to suck the universe into the depth of field plane. I'm just learning lab color curves in photoshop, so processing could be over the top (but I tried to ratchet it in, really I did).

LOVE the first one, Do NOT like the second one...I can't stand those stupid miniaturization photos! I think they look totally ridiculous!
Great shot though of the LGB!!
I have to disagree, vehemently. I think it's an incredibly fun effect that creates something eye catching and unique. Print both images on canvas, hang 'em in a coffee shop and see which one gets more attention.
Speaking from experience, I love getting lost in the details, and spending inordinate amounts of time picking up on the little things in the photo, like the motorcycle on the left.
I've experimented in photoshop to get that effect... I always get the most feedback on those particular image, and I'd do them all day long if I had a real TS-E.

I'm thinking about replacing my 17-40 with the ts-e 24ii and the samyang 14. I had a question about the shifted wideness of it.
Does anyone know approximately how wide a shifted panorama is in an equivalent single-shot focal length? (our the approximate angle of view?) I'm trying to understand if the 24's shifted panorama field of view is similar to the 17-40's fov at 17mm.
I asked the same question on the main forum in someone else's thread, but struck out on getting an answer.
Thanks for any advice!

If you click the link you included above, rigth click on the photo, choose "medium 500" or anything else, and on the next screen, below the picture click "this FAQ"
As far as I understand it seems Flickr no longer will display/allow direct links if you do not set "share" for the picture itself in your own Flickr set up.

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for their kind words.
I used shift to get more of the foreground in the picture. Had I tilted the camera downwards to do this the mountain would have gotten perspective distorion.

Basically going where I'm not supposed to. I've been caught before, but never gotten in trouble... yet. Even without photography, I find it exciting and the view is always peaceful and unique. This last spot - is so easily accessed I will definitely be taking friends up there.
Hotels are always good spots because once you find a good rooftop, you know it'll be accessible 24/7. Most buildings secure their roofs pretty well, so it's all about finding the ones that don't. :)

Can't really - I use this (http://www.sliktripod.co.uk/pages/sprintmini.html) most of the time for it's portability. I just try to eyeball it level and then use Live View for further assistance (especially in the dark).
Occasionally I'll end up doing some slight corrections in PS if I end up not eyeballing it well enough. That was the case with this image.
Does it seem pelfed to you?

Jasus, Julian, that lens is almost indecently sharp and crisp... I've just found this thread and am thinking that the 24 might be a more logical addition than the Zeiss 21, seeing as I have the 17 TS.
(And don't tell me I need both! You are a bad influence!)

Seriously (no, seriously) considering pushing the button on this tomorrow morning. It's this or the 17 and I have had some great info from this thread and another about the differences. Plus I've delved into my shots and totted up the FL I like. I still think the 24 is edging the win.
Just a quick question if anyone knows - how is it for IR? I cant see it listed in the IR lenses thread as good or bad. Its not going to be a deal-stopper if its bad, it would just be another bonus.

This lens continues to amaze me. I wouldn't say that any of my other lenses are slouches, but this one just puts them to shame. I was looking through a couple of shots that I didn't end up displaying (unhappy with the content in the frame), and I was just marveling at the sharpness, lack of flare/CA/distortion, and overall optical quality.
I can read number plates on vehicles from a block away. My other primes are sharp indeed, but not THIS sharp, and certainly not as sharp for being only 24mm.
I'm *really* hoping Canon releases an updated 45 or 50mm TSE of similar caliber to this lens. I'll sell my 35L in a heart beat and replace it.

Do the TS-E lenses work on crop body cameras, or will I get some type of weird vignetting? It seems everyone in the thread so far has a full-frame.
I'm going to Ireland in 2 weeks, and I'm thinking that maybe I should try renting one for the trip. The landscapes are blowing my mind, incredible shots guys!

No, it won't vignette, just that with its wide image circle, it is truly amazing on FF. A normal FF 24 mm has some vignetting towards the corners of the image, not this one.
Of course on APS-C it has the same AoV as a 38 mm lens on FF, so say, a short standard lens.
I'd suggest you rent a TS-E 17L if you want to use it as a WA lens :D (27 mm FF equivalent). And that is just as good...
Kind regards, Wim

Big filters 82mm damn. I don't really know much about filters yet other than ND filters. My 24-70 is blah at 24mm good for what it is but it's the weakest focal length of that lens for sure.

Anyone have any experience using 77mm filters with a step up (or is it step down?) ring? Obviously it will vignette at full shift, but I'm wondering if it will vignette at all positions, or where the line is.
(i have a feeling a set of 82mm filters is in my future, but using 77's is appealing in the meantime.)

Thanks Kenny - answered my question - found your post here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpost.php?p=10297662&postcount=209)
^^^ I'm in a rush at the moment, but I believe the post Julian is talking about is on page 13 or 14. Or you could do a search - I've posted on the subject probably 6-7 times now.

I like the first one but, it's leaning a bit to the right. :)

Cheers, Julian! I thought I cropped it to 1x1, though - can't remember. What's neat is that when I cropped it I only had to take 20 pixels off of one side to get the crop I wanted. I was like... when I didn't think I could love this lens any more...
Sorry for being in a hurry, guys - but I'm glad you found it! I can answer other questions later, too. But actually, at this point, I don't think I'm any longer the only one using 77mm filters with this lens...
