I can't get the sequence settings and my t1i to agree with each other. I used 720p in easy setup. FCE says my clips are 30fps while it's version of 30p is 29.97. Is this right? I have to render every single time I place a clip on the timeline. this is without adding any effects. I have a dual 2.8 imac which should handle this ok.

Did you transcode the files? I'm not familiar with the Rebel specifically, but the 5dII uses h.264 compression which your computer won't handle. Files must be transcoded to another codec like HDV, XDCAM, ProRes, etc. so they can be edited in real time. I don't know what codec the T1i uses, though, but I'm guessing it is seriously compressed and needs more horsepower to edit in real time.

29.97fps is 30fps, for the most part. 29.97 is the actual frame rate for NTSC. It's 30fps but the timecode skips some frames. Something like the first frame of every minute every ten minutes. but I can't remember what. I don't understand your post, though. Is your sequence 29.97, or the clips from the camera?

if you dont have voice to go w/ it does matter. but no, 30p doesn't denoted as 30.00fps or 29.97fps, you just have to know exactly what it is.

i.e. 5dII flag their codec as 30.0fps but it's actually 29.97fps. this is big confusion for many ppl but everyone recognized this already.
