The local camera shop had the XT grip in stock, so I decided to get it ($159). It definitely adds some heft to it and makes it look like a more serious camera. Besides housing two batteries, it also has some buttons and a dial in order to take vertical shots.

I don't know if I'll use it every time I got out with the camera, but it will probably stay on the majority of the time.

I want one of those:

Sadly the bge3 grip is as rare as chickens teeth in the UK.

I really like mine. It makes all the difference in handling but adds almost no weight to the camera. I love the portrait controls as well!

For me an issue with the XT is that the size makes managing the controls quickly a bit cramped. The grip would help that, and of course then you can leave the grip off, put on a nice small lens and you have a fantastic camera for more discreet shots. Makes my decision a wee bit tougher.

My battery grip never leaves my Kiss Digital. I don't think I've used it without, come to think of it. Great choice, you'll love it.

cool, I think that the grip has the important key ring attachment so you never lose your camera again! ;) Congrast on the new addition. I am a grip fanatic myself.

Canon and Sterlingtek, no issues with either.
