I have been taking pictures of my son's football league this spring, and have captured some great shots with the 55-250 (that lens rocks!). Here is one that I have done for him, with selective coloring. A great one for the grandparents also.

First comment from grandparents will be, "Is that our little "Billy"? I can't see his face". I like the color treatment but to really be an excellent gift for the GPs, or to be a decent sports photo like this, you really need to capture the player's face. While this may not be true in 100% of the situations, it certainly is here. Do you have any others of him carrying the ball where you can see his face? I'd also look for another without the mini van in the background as it is a bit distracting.

I agree about not being able to see the player's face. That is a HUGE flaw in this photo. The selective coloring does its job well enough that the mini van isn't too much of an issue, but that type of treatment isn't really for me anyway.

I don't mind selective color pictures but this one doesn't work for me. The B&W conversion has left the shot looking underexposed. Players faces so dark you can't see them. Also the color change on the field around the ball carrier looks weird. The part of this shot I like the best is #24 sent flying. To me the ball carrier is secondary action.
