I finally upgraded from my 7 month old 300D to the great 20D,i now wish i had purchased this originally,oh well the 300D enabled me to learn and play a lot.
I ended up buying the 20D from Canada through an ebay auction, was worried at 1st ,but it only took a week to turn up and saved me a fair bit aswell.
I now have to learn all the new functions the 20D has and the different configeration to the 300D, i am after any advice as to shooting motor racing,as i am off to Oran Park this weekend to shoot a car club i am a member of,i have a 70-200 2.8 L and a 2x converter,so if there is anyone who can offer any advice i'd appreciate it.

cheers all

Congrats to GTV on the big new 20D! Sounds like it was from Henrys. Well, you'll have fun this weekend at the races. Advice? Car racing shots can be cliche, but the shots of all the pretty ladies are never a waste!

I'd suggest you read the manual and learn how to use AI servo, and practice with it as much as you can beforehand. It's not hard. Also look at CF4-1 - there's a huge thread (like 12 pages maybe) on it around here somewhere, it'd be worth you doing a search and reading it.

Congratulations on the new purchase. :)

As to settings etc. I use AI Servo for motorracing, and to get the blurred background effect, try Shutter priority mode, and set it to around 1/200th. Should be fine for your focal length. Iso 100 of course, unless it's very dark. You should be able to see the aperture change between probably f2.8 and 22, depending how bright the situation is. When I was shooting recently in the middle of day at 1/200th, it was approx f16/f18. Just make sure the sensor is clean before you go. :D
