Nice series. I'd lose #2. The net in the picture is distracting. Also, I believe this young man got away with a balk. IIRC, with a right handed pitcher, the right foot cannot be on the rubber and throw to 1st base

thats not the net in #2, its the shadow of the light post on the field. I had no net in front of me.

Sure it can...if he spins and fires a quick throw to first (probably his "A" move), his foot will be on the rubber to begin with and then (obviously) has to come off as he finishes his throw. The photo was snapped just before the toe came off.

Yay, Carolina! (my alma mater)... I have nothing constructive to add to this thread, unfortunately, but nice shots!
Just out of curiosity--did you sit in the stands as a fan, or did you have a press pass? I'm asking b/c I'd like to shoot some Carolina baseball at some point, if possible.

good work and NO baseball is NOT as easy as it looks, I've never really done baseball before on any serious level until this year, I always thought it would be boring to shoot.
Boy was I wrong... There is a completely different eye and skill set required for great baseball shots than some other sports.

Sorry, I thought it was a balk. It isn't now, but I do believe it used to be. I looked it up in the NCAA rules book and Rule 9.1.4 says,
With a runner on base, the pitcher may throw to that base without first disengaging the pivot foot from the rubber as long as no natural pitching motion has been started.
Although,
Rule 9.1.6:
The pitcher must step directly and gain ground toward a base in an attempt to pick off a runner. "Directly" is interpreted to mean withing a 45 degree angle measuring from the pivot foot toward the base the pitcher is throwing to or feinting a throw.
