Didnt know where else to put this, but im from irelnd and have a motorsport ireland pass and a pas for mondello for all events. I'd like to go to england and photograph the seat car racing or tdi racing, not 100% what its called. But how would i go about gaining access to get out on track and any body know what the race dates are for the year. Any help or info would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks
Anthony

This would be best in the motorsport section of the forum - http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=118

I wonder if any kind mods would move it?

This sounds like a total wind up / troll post but here's a sensible response anyway.....

The passes you hold in Ireland are (probably) totally irrelevant to the UK.

You will need to be working for a media outlet or team to get a media pass for UK circuits - the clue is in the name. Circuits won't just give trackside passes out to anyone who wants to take some pictures.

To me, it doesn't sound like you will have a good enough reason to be trackside in the UK, particularly if you can't even find out the proper name of what you want to be trackside for. How on earth can we give you race dates if you can't give us the name of the series you are interested in.

If you want a trackside pass, either you or more usually, the media outlet you are working for will apply to the circuit for it. This will usually mean filling out an application form, having a letter from the editor of a relevant publication saying you are authorised to represent them at a particular meeting, evidence of the correct insurance and evidence of work you have had published. Without these you stand little chance of being successful in your application.

You should note that race circuits are becoming ever stricter with their requirements in the UK, due to the increasing number of people blagging their way in where they shouldn't be.

You don't actually need a trackside pass for a lot of mainland UK circuits anyway. Knockhill, Cadwell Park, Oulton Park and Croft to name but a few can all be photographed with top results without the need to be signed on and trackside.

Then you will have no chance of getting trackside unless you are working for a recognised, relevant media outlet and can meet the criteria I listed above. Simple as that I am afraid.

Hi Anto, first thing they will want to know is what mag/angency you are working for.
Are you looking for a media pass just to get shots for yourself? if you are then theres not much of a chance.
if you are freelance, then you will need a written letter from an editor, stating that they will publish your work from the said event and you will have to show past published work from you with that mag too.

best thing it just to get a number for the press officer at the track/event, give them a ring and he/she will tell you everything that is needed for a pass.

You should look at getting an MSA media pass first. you will stand a far better chance in the uk once you have it. The mondello pass is useless, the MSI pass might help, but the MSA pass is where you really want to be going for.
