This isnt a photo question, which is why im posting here, but I was hoping someone would be able to help me out. Im trying to ID a spider species, more specifically a bunch that have made their residence in my home. They live in connecticut, they have a leg span maybe a little smaller than a quarter, and are white/off white/ beige colored. I just found myself waking up to a couple of them crawling on me this morning, and one making a web on my coat rack. (shiver).

Since this is a photography forum, why not make the most out of your hobby? A picture of the spiders you are talking about might be very helpful. ;)

Must be the infamous L-bugs! Since you still love your G6, it's OK that you did not recognize them instantly. But it might be a sign to jump over to DSLR camp.

I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure in the US there are only a couple types of spiders to worry about: Black widow, (http://entomology.unl.edu/images/spiders/blkwidow1.jpg) brown recluse, (http://entomology.unl.edu/images/spiders/brown_recluse1.jpg) yellow sac spider, (http://entomology.unl.edu/images/spiders/chiracanthium_m1.jpg) hobo spider. (http://entomology.unl.edu/images/spiders/hobospider1.jpg)
Pictures linked to the various spiders (Instead of displayed for the arachnophobic  )
A couple of good spider resources:

I've heard that all spiders are venomous, just to varying degrees. Sleep well. :)

In my house, the species would be known as "The Spiders Which Burn Nicely"...

But true..
So where's the pics?
The little white guys are pretty common indoors.. and the breed... a lot.
On the bright side,. they will eat other bugs...

i havent seen them around since. im guessing that they're just hiding somewhere. lets hope they stay hidden. as long as i dont see them, i can be in denial. hopefully they'll either move out or die off.

Yes, I agree with CDS. That's the reason I tolerate them in my house, or should I say, the dark recesses of my basement. As long as they're there, I know I won't have any nasty insects or bugs down there. :)

Yes^
I was going to say....Stay VERY far away from brown recluses. They're actually pretty common so it's kind of scary.

Nice pic.....I live in NY and seems to be a pretty common house spider here, unfortunately the name escapes me. I dont think its of concern, but Im no expert. I have seen many of those in my home over the years and no problems here....
BTW.......has anyone ever heard the statistic that we (humans) generally injest 1 common spider per month while at rest? Apparently if you are a secreter, the arachnids are drawn to the moisture and sweet smelling nectar (halitosis) that emmits from ones mouth. Although frequency of occurrance Im sure depends on ones local.

BTW.......its an old wives tail or urban legend Im sure (the frequency) its actually probably one or two per lifetime.

oh great, i feel sooooo much better. now im thinking that the reason i havent seen the spiders is because i've been eating them in my sleep.

I think it looks like this. I think you have some type of Sac Spider. Yellow maybe?! They vary in color and most are not yellow.... even the yellow sac spider is not always yellow.
You can't tell by the photo you posted, but did the spider have black or darker colored fangs/mouth parts.... If so it's more than likely a Sac Spider. If thats waht it is you may want to read this link below :).

If you open up the back of your computer, they can get in there and get rid of all the buga in your computer for you. Unfortunately, they can't do much about getting rid of the viruses so you'll still need to depend on anti-virus software for those.

Someone remind me never to sleep in my basement ever again. Or at least remind me to rinse a cupful of Listerine before going to sleep.
It's a good thing it's my wife who sleeps with her mouth open. As long as she keeps doing that, I think I'll be safe.

That looks alot like a jumping (or hopping) spider to me, get those around our place, quite fun, they have cool eyes, haven't been able to get close enough or quick enough to get a shot of them though.
At least it is not a White Tale, got a bite from one a few weeks back, it is a bit of Rusian roulette being bitten by one of those, the level of toxity depends on its recent diet, people have lost limbs to them, I had a sore foot for two weeks (lucky).

Hey, how big is it? It looks like either a clubionid, a corrinid, or most likely, an anyphaenid. Without a serious macro (i.e. MPE-65 lens), hard to tell but I'd guess it to be Cheiracanthium mildei. Other takers? BTW, I'm an arachnologist, but not a taxonomist.

It is a funnel spider of some sort, http://ohioline.osu.edu/hyg-fact/2000/2060.html I don't know the exact species. It's not gonna hurt you though, maybe a little welt if it bites you but that's it
