Are there any tricks to cutting down on the glare caused by the flash on glasses. Don't have an off camera setup, and I'm finding often times I need the light directed almost right at the subject.

Have the subject push his/her frames up behind the ears. That usually tilts the lenses enough to reduce or eliminate glare.

Have them turn their head away from you and shift their eyes so they're looking at the camera. This will shift the reflection from the glasses away from the camera.

I didn't think to try either of these... Thanks!

I spent 2 full week ends working on this issue. It opened a can of worms, in that glasses create glare, but also shadows from the temples and rims become distractions. I came up with a light set up that seemed to work by placing a shoot through umbrella 90 degrees to the subject in a room that allowed light to bounce around without reflecting off a surface in behind the camera. I'm interested in seeing how effective a CPF is.
