Im trying to build my on website for my photography and I wanted a really clean looking slide show but I cant find anything that doesnt require a download for a viewer. I really like the silverlight slide show that comes with expressions suite but i know not everyone will want to down load silverlight to view it.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Flash is your friend.

Lots of free flash slide shows out there were all you need to do is add the photos edit some simple code in a text editor, and paste it into your website.

I'm using one called "CCSlideShow".
Came with really good instructions on the website that let me adjust its size, number of images etc.

Flash = Silverlight in that they both require your clients to download some runtime. Unless you want to do a pure HTML solution, you will most likely have to require some sort of runtime environment on your client machines.

I'm not sure why you are opposed to requiring your users to install Silverlight or Flash. Both runtimes are very small and take minutes to install.

I would look at something javascript based as another option as well. Lot's of folks out there won't bother with flash installs/upgrades and will skip right past your page. Plus, staying away from a plugin viewer help your keywords and descriptions to be more useful on the search engine side. If you do go with flash, try to find a viewer that is at least compatible with a couple older versions of flash.

Here is a nice one that has some development time behind it: http://smoothgallery.jondesign.net/
