I took this picture of this abandoned house today. My friend brought my attention to the tree and the house. Which has a great meaning. The house being dead and the sun behind the tree showing that there was a sign of life in the house. It really made me love the picture a lot more.

It's the sensor, lol!.. but thanks! for some reason, some landscape shots I do I can't see those dust spots very well, and some the spots are outrageous and they really show. It gives me a hard time, really. =(

Indeed you're right. I want to get it cleaned very soon. hopefully...

Another question to you HDR folks. Would you think this is overdone HDR? I know some people are not big fans of HDR.. I want to try to make HDR as realistic as possible but yet, Still have a nice tone to it. Is that even possible?

Yes, it's possible, maybe even easier to get that look with Photomatix, than the extreme look. You might even want to try using a single RAW imported to Photomatix and try with that.

But I don't think it's overdone. I would have opened it in CS3 and run some noise reduction actions and sharpening on it though. Running through PM is only half the job, most need some more tweeking in Photoshop.

I have NO idea how to do tweaking and sharpening in photoshop. Usually, after my HDR pictures from photomatix, I just stop there. lol.. that must sound bad. I didn't think there was another way to make the photo improve some more.

Moreover, for noise reduction and sharpening, I may be asking a bit much but would you show me a tutorial or a thread that can teach me how to do these things with photoshop? I have CS4. And I never touch it. It seems a bit rather too complicated for me..lol

Thanks a lot for your help and advice.

Well, if you bought CS4, then you might as well learn how to use it. It looks daunting at first, and it is. I started with Photoshop 10 years ago and it sat on my computer for two years before I bought a book and ground my way through some of the basics. You can't learn it all, or even very fast, it's just too huge and powerfull for one person to learn it all. But buy the CS4 Bible as a reference, and when you want to do something, look up how to do it. Another great way is to Google what you want to do. There are a million free tutorials out there for every concievable task you will ever want to do in CS4. Just Google sharpening in cs4 and noise reduction in cs4. :)
