They have finally set a solid date (we'll see how solid..) for the destruction of the old convention center here in Charlotte, NC. May 15, 2005 @ 6:30am.
I have managed to cadge a spot on top of the Holliday Inn 2 blocks away to shoot pictures. Got permission from the building owner (I work for the bank), the property manager and the general manager of the holliday Inn, so I am set.
The biggest problem with this implosion is that it is hard to find a good spot to shoot from. Even where I am going to be, there is an elevated walkway between the hotel and the building being demolished. The roof is at the 14th floor level so I am hoping that it will allow me to clear the walkway and get some good shots.
Anyone locally interested in taking some shots? I should be able to get one or two more folks in with me. Or, if you have a better perch, how about taking me with you? :p
