God of bokeh apparently. Well regarded as a top line lens.

Aside from being really really heavy, and really really huge... it has very few drawbacks.
It is the sharpest lens I've used/own,. I'll agree with that, (at least until I use the 500mm a little more and see how that stacks up)
And it obviously maintains that sharpness wide open...
It's kind of an insane lens to have as it's advantages are only valuable in certain circumstances.. for the most part I find the 135mm f/2 to be FAR FAR FAR more useable with very similar results.
Anyone working in indoor events and sports can use this lens as dounle duty, as with the 1.4X T-con it doubles very handily as an ultra sharp 300mm f/2.8 (well 280mm f/2.5 really,.. not to mention 400mm @ f/3.6 with the 2X. But stop down to at least f/4 for more sharpness with the t-con)

The use of this lens is very versatile. I would have been crazy for shooting it with a t-con to reach 280mm with f2.5!!!
How heavy is it? Does it weight more than 6 lbs?

Which is pretty much exactly what the Sigma 500mm f/4.5 EX wieghs in at.. (6.8lbs)
It is a VERY heavy lens...
By comparison.. The 300mm f/2.8 IS is only 5.6 lbs,. the 400DO is 4.2
