Greetings from London Ontario Canada. Well, it has been a while since I posted (last time I did, there was only a people forum!!). I think I am one of the original members here and I am always impressed with the talent that is present. I am more of a lurker these days and enjoy looking at other peoples work. Anyhow, spurred on by one of your mods here (that's you Maureen!!), I am finally posting a few of my daughter Julia (who is 5 now).....she wanted a camera so she got my old G1 and loves taking pictures! My other daughter Anika (yes, I will post some shots of her!) is harder to get pictures of since she never sits still and always wants to touch the camera buttons!! Anyhow, here are a few of Julia this afternoon in the garden. Critique and comments always welcome and thanks for looking!

Oh my GRACIOUS!!!! She is so grown-up and so beautiful!
I know the story about cameras. Aaron, age 6,took a shining to my

THANKS, MICHAEL!!!! Your photos are as beautiful as always.

My, those are just stunning. Was that the 85L or the straight up 85 f/1.8?

What is a 85f1.8??;) Kidding of course. If you look at my history, you can tell that I am still smitten by the venerable 85L!! Thanks for the kind comments!

Right, Anika! The kid who doesn't stand still to let her picture being taken! She is a button presser so to get a picture of her in focus, I have use a long lens, and turn off the focus beep. But I will try and post some of her soon.......

So Anika is not in your photographic element, eh Michael? Try AI Servo and stop down a little. I'm sure you will get something "usable". ;)

schmoelzel,
You are, without a doubt, one of the best child photographers I have seen. Every time you post a picture.... I go WOW... and not only because Julia is a gorgeous girl, your pictures are flawless.

There's an oldie but a goody.......still use basically the exact same workflow! It has become such a habit after all these years!

Schmoelzel! Great to see you posting again! This does my heart good to see these, and brings back memories of when I first joined this forum 7 years ago. Seeing the old G1 again REALLY takes me back...
As always these pictures are beautiful, with the classic Schmoelzel 3D look, and I shocked at how much Julia has grown. She's going to be a fantastic model someday with all this practice. :)

OMG, those are amazing -- esp. the girl in the leaves. UGH. I wonder why I even bother when I see pictures like that? The ones in this thread are outstanding, too. It looks like he has an amazing lens, but I wonder how much PP? It sure doesn't look like much, which would mean he is amazing with PP, too, if he's doing it. :D

Yes, the G1 has been resurrected and is being put to good use!! I did have to buy new batteries for it though since the original didn't hold much charge anymore!! It is amazing how huge this site has become since we signed up!! I think I am still one of the earlier members, and only because of Pekka's great G1 gallery!!

It does help to have good glass (85L) and the old 1D sure helps IMO!!

I thought I joined early, in 2002, but you beat me by over a year!
I had the S30 first, then the venerable G3, finally graduating to my first DSLR, the 300D Rebel. In that time I've owned the S30, G3, 300D, 20D, 1DMK2, 1DMK2N, 1DMK3, and my fondest memories are from the G3 and 20D (now the 1DMK3 is making a new place in my heart).
The site sure is different now, but for the most part it retains that "small town", "family" friendly feel that NO other forum even comes close to. That's why I'm so glad to see you posting on here again. It's like hearing from a long lost relative :)

Sorry, never saw your question! My time here is sporadic unfortunately! Even though fall is kind of done, I really like the ponds as you drive toward Lucan on highway 4........over on the right side as you leave Masonville area. Always nice backgrounds there..........

Thanks for the suggestion on Hwy 4 by Lucan. I'll keep that in mind for the future. My family is closer to the Lambeth end - I was thinking Sharon Creek or the Westminster pond area although I haven't been to either.

Both those areas are nice; Westminster Ponds are nice in the fall but a bit dark!

Thanks for all the pleasant feedback! I should post more often but I do lurk just about everyday looking at the great photos that are posted here! I am busy with the 2 girls, one of which doesn't like to have her picture taken!! (it's not Julia!!) I am getting a new camera (new for me) later this week so maybe there will be a flurry of posting from my end since getting a new toy always inspires a ton of shots!!

No, not from lack of posting but using ancient technology!! ;) Thanks for the compliment and yes, I think I am one of the real early members.......was totally smitten by Pekka's G1 gallery and had to get a G1 of course. Funny, the shots just never looked as good as that gallery!! I was a teenager......now I'm middle-aged!!:D
