How can I attach point & shoot camera on top of mountain bike helmet?

has anyone done it before ? I don't want to use duct tape. I have velcro straps but I need to attach the camera to a platform. I can put the camera into a waterproof plastic case. The case must be attach to the platform that is held down by velcro.

Drill a hole in a 3"x4" or so sheet of plastic or sheet metal and tread in a 1/4" thumb screw. (Both found a Home Depot). Then thread into the camera's tripod mount.

Zip tie a flat plate to the helmet through the vents. And don't fall on your head.
