I am looking for suggestions for what a good tripod at a reasonable price.
Here is my equipment
Canon D30
Tamron 28 - 200 3.8 - 5.6 LD
Tamron 28 - 300 3.5 - 6.3 IF Macro
Canon 35-85 (came with my EOS)
Sigma 28 - 200 f/2.8 APO
I am new to photography but enjoy it very much. I like to shoot Buildings, Nature, Wildlife, Kids, and Sports.
What do you think the best Tripod would be. and which head.
I am looking at the Manfratto 055c w/ 308xc ball head
Am I going in the right direction to shoot what is listed above

I've got the Velbon DF 50. It's pretty light (3 lbs), has a 3 way head (only 1 lever) with bubble level, and has worked well for the last year (but only with the G1). I'm not a really big fan of the locking levers on the legs, and it would be nicer to have 2 tilt levers.
I also use the Ultrapod (it's a mini that I keep in my camera bag). I don't use it often, but the velcro wrap-around strap has saved me a couple times when I had to attach it to something vertical or at a steep angle.

or a mildly cheaper, yet rock solid alternative:
I use a Bogen 3021PRO tripod with a 3262QR head. This setup works well, although I'd prefer a different ballhead w/ better tension control. I couldn't justify big bucks at this point & this definitely does the trick anyway... ya know, gotta find the fine line between the best equipment & what you can afford practically.
In the future I may spring for the Kirk B3 or a Bogen geared head -- & btw, don't confuse geared heads for pan/tilt heads... they may look similar, but there's a world of difference.
