What are your favorite beaches near Los Angeles for portrait sessions? I live a bit inland so for the area I'm based out of, senior portrait sessions at the beach are actually very unusual instead of super-cliche as they can be for some coastal areas. So, I have a client or two interested in going to the beach to shoot and was hoping for recommendations on good beaches that don't have too much foot traffic and hopefully have some nice little natural formations for portrait sessions?

Any and all recommendations would be great, and if somebody had examples from a session at a place they were talking about that would be all the better!

Are you planning to shoot on weekends? because all beaches around LA is always crowded. I'd recommend Huntington Beach or Seal Beach or Laguna Beach (pretty much any beaches in Orange County is awesome) because they're not as crowded as Santa Monica, the beach there is just amazing. There's also Dockweiler Beach in Playa Del Rey (near LAX), when I went there it wasn't crowded at all but I don't really like it, you might want to check on that one too. If you don't mind driving a little farther, I can also recommend you beaches around San Diego and Santa Barbara area. I personally like to have pedestrians blurred in the background on portrait pictures.

Not too far from Huntington Beach, there is a small island called Balboa Island. It's also nice and very quiet place, if you don't mind having small yacht or boats on your picture.

If you PM me your email, I might be able to find and share some pictures from those places, Huntington Beach and Seal beach are my two favorite beaches, whenever someone visits me to LA, I always take them there.
