Ok I am back from 3 weeks holiday in Florida. I got good use of my Epson P-2000 as I have shot 1300+ photos I now have to check.

We flew to Miami and since we arrived late we stayed overnight and drove up to Orlando the next day.

We took the Tamiami trail (US41) and for quite some time it looked like this on the road

But then we suddenly saw a sign for a bus tour in the everglades we read about in advance. it was pure chance we saw that. This might have been one of the best experiences we had in those 3 weeks.

It was a 1 hour tour in a small part of the everglades and it was quite an experince. We saw a lot of wildlife, gators and a few rare birds.

Here is a few gator babies

and here is mom watching

And a very colorfull bird.

And finally though it is not very good, the bus was driving so I could not keep the camera steady: a redwinged blackbird - yipee can I now say I am a member of the RWB club ?

Glad you enjoyed your trip to Florida. I'd much prefer visiting the Everglades rather than Orlando. Too bad you didn't get into the Keys.

Yeah I would have liked to see more of the Everglades. On the last day before going home I also went on a short airboat ride in Orlando, this was also awesome.

Ugh, I practically live in the everglades. I live in Miramar. I just put Miami in my profile so people don't ask where on earth Miramar is. It's like 10 minutes from Miami in Broward county far west close to where the everglades begin.

In fact. A friend and I have caught an alligator (3 feet long) while fishing in the lake behind my house. Stuck him in a cage and too him out far and let him loose of course.
