I'm getting my first SLR camera. But have been taking pictures for a long time. I plan on joining a photography club to build my skills. My question is if I wanted to sell my photos to a spefic group like general aviation.

In general how do I start out. Do I build a web site or do it from word of month? I know I would be selling to a limited group. But I think I would do okay, being that here isn't that many private airplane photos being sold. I know this from going to alot of airshows of all sizes and types.

Here is one of my photos that I did. I did use photo shop. I know you can only go on your own experiences. It just gives me ideal of how to start it.

No doubt, you've heard of Airliners.net

I know a lot of photographers there will just about give their shots away for free for use.

If you've researched your market enough, and know who you'll be targetting (clearly aviation!), you should have a bit of a start going on.

If you're confident no one else in your region has it covered, and they're interested in it, I say go ahead. You have nothing to lose, but a "no" to selling some prints to different individuals and companies.

PS. That's a neat little edit. Very trippy.

Make sure that you characterize your works as "airplane art." Somebody might wander in there thinking that it is photojournalistic work, which it is not. PhotoShop effects can be great, if you are the person using them, and if you find the right customer for that kind of art.

The picture above would be consider aviation art and yes I'm the one that did the photoshop work to it. If it is photojournalistic work, how does that change as far as selling it?

Bob's right.

I don't mean to insult your work but my first impression when seeing the image was that it was a crappy image someone blew up too large giving it a grainy look. After taking a closer look I realized what you were doing but his could turnoff someone that was expecting a crisply focused image.

Good luck.

Your probably right about the photo. My zoom lens wasn't the best. I was a digital C730. When you zoomed in the quality when down. But now I have a 20D. And the other reason a put it in to photo shop is right now I don't know about selling photos with peoples N# on the plane. So Im going to have to do some research on that. Another Ideal is just sell the photo right to them.

Here is another photo.
