I made up a business card and I was going to upload to Mpix but they have a pretty confusing way to get a damn business card you have to go through their program to make it. Is there any site where I can just upload my 3.5 x 2" image at 250 ppi. I would like some place that does a nice gloss finish. What site would you recommend? Looking for a good price and quality. Also CC on the card would be nice. Thanks guys

Did you try local business card shops? If you send them the design, they don't charge any design fees. When I shopped for them, I found them to be quite reasonable actually.

I use VIstaPrint.com - They even offer a free template so that things print right with their services. Very reasonable prices and pretty quick. Ordered some on Monday and received them Thursday...

These guys are extremely good:

They do plastic and metallic cards pretty damn cheaply:

They found me via flickr:

I would not use your school's email domain. Spend $10 for a domain name and get smugmug out of there.

I like the card otherwise.

I'm a bit late on this post but the typeface for your name makes me think you shoot retro/vintage cars. If you do, then good.
Also the word "photographs" feels like you have one collection of photographs. Why not "photography" or "photographer." It makes a difference whether people are aware or not.

And I also agree about the school e-mail address and domain name "smugmug" Domain's are cheap and making a simple site is pretty easy these days if you watch some youtube tutorials or search around.

As for the color scheme and overall design, I imagine this card only took you.. at the most.. an hour of time and thought. It's blahhh.. The design of your card is important. When people have nothing to go by they can only look at your card. That IS YOU. You're "brand" if you will.. So make sure your card speaks volumes, and is better than your strongest photograph.

White House is your best bet. I just got my workshop business cards in the mail today, 8am and they look GREAT!

Love them!

And I agree, if you're going as far professional as getting business cards made up, get a real domain and even if you need to mask it, use it and get rid of smugmug and your school name. Also, make it a two side card and put your photo, your BEST photo as the entire back.

WHCC has great glossy stock. If you're unsure of the design order them as rep cards - only have to order 50. I also like Mpix stock. Overnight prints - color never comes out right, in my experience always very desaturated. Also everything printed press should be no less than 300 dpi. Should be an easy fix since it's just text.

I agree about the domain - register it and get it out there. Good luck!

I respectfully disagree! Keep the back mostly blank and do not gloss the back...you need to be able to write on the card, and the client needs to be able to write on the card. A little text is fine but don't make the back an image.

In my opinion. I'm sure there are a few others who feel this way also.

You can even disrespectfully disagree!! lol.

We all have our own ways of doing things.

The reason I said put an image on the back is all the pertinent info is on the front of the card. His name, site, phone and email. For me, the back of the card is a photo showing my work. It's one of my better image. An image I want them to walk away with thinking "Wow, that's a great shot!" If I have to have the back of the card blank for them to write stuff, imho, the front of the card has missed it's point.

But this is how I do my cards. Between my card and my site, you will learn more than you ever wanted to know about me lol. It's not the same for everyone and I understand, I'm not angry!

lol - I was going to say the same thing mikekelly - had it typed out and deleted it. Guess I was chicken! lol

Mine have logo on front contact on back and I WISH the back was mostly blank to write on. Next batch will be different. And no gloss if you want to be able to write on it at all. If you don't want people writing on your cards - gloss it up! lol
