Hi we recently brought a cannon IXUS 990IS compact camera.

the photos it takes are awesome, how ever i am having an issue taking video clips. once i take them on the camera it all works fine.

i put them on the laptop and all you can hear is the sound, sometimes the first frame, the rest just freezes.

i have tried both NSTC and PAL formats and still no joy

i have also tried, windows media player, quicktime, and VLC

any ideas ???

if the file is in high definition, it's more likely a graphics card issue OR processing power issue. i believe 4gb memory, duo core, and a decent (not built in) graphics card are required just to get the video going. hd files require alot of memory to play.

search the web and you'll come up with probably similar responses. what is your current laptop specs?

i have a dell XPS laptop

dual 880 GTX video cards 4 gig ram

pretty sure i have enough power to run the videos.

i have not installed the cannon software i dont like and brand camera software i think this may be the issue .. i might have to install it

thinking codec issue
