I'm looking at 2 options:

1. 24 inch iMac

2. Mac mini with large monitor

Is anyone using glossy imac for photo editing? Does calibration make it passable

What is the DELL monitor that everyone raves about.

I'm not buying used nor will I consider a non Mac.

My budget is maxxed at what a loaded 24 inch iMac price is (I get a slight discount thru work)

I believe the 24" imac has an H-ips panel, (good for photo editing and color )and yes it will calibrate just fine.
That mac mini is a joke. $900 for that under powered little box?
THE budget editing monitor that is here........ is a 2209WA
I have not used the imac......You could do what I do and get a Macbook Pro with an external 2209WA

I have the 1st generation aluminum 24" iMac and have been quite happy with it. It's in a location where I can control the lighting and thus minimize the glare or reflections that you might get with the glossy screen. It calibrates just fine with my Huey. I don't think that I'd consider the mini for any serious editing. If budget is an issue you might want to take a look at the Apple online store. You can get a refurbished 24" iMac starting at $1199 and a new previous generation iMac starting at $1399.

The glossy screen does not interfere with color saturations when printing..etc? Now I am a big believer in using histograms for exposure corrections.
