Saw this advertised awhile back and wanted to try it. $19.95 per year, free local and long distance, voice mail, even call from your computer. You get a new phone number too.
Just wanted to say, it installs in the time it takes you to open the package, plug in the cord and USB plus about 3 minutes to download and install a small program and your good to go. Voice quality is great and it works, right out of the box. Even a caveman can do it.

Apparently not all users are happy with the product or service:

Maybe they are using a Gerbil powered Modem? Mine works fine so far. I have dialed out and in and it works, loud and clear. Maybe the company fixed whatever was wrong.
I will post back though, if it starts to mess up. ;)

I guess if you leave your computer on all the time already then it isn't a big deal, but at $.50 a day to run a PC I can pay for a regular phone bill.

I use to leave mine on 24/7, but turn it off at night now. That's fine though, cause when I turn it off, I don't want to be called anyway. And I have my cell phone, which is on all the time.
I had a regular local phone line for years though, and was getting these idiot calls from Diners club credit card collection agency calling here for someone named Linda Johnson. We get her mail, whoever she is, it still comes here, she use to live at this address like 12 years ago and not since. They just would not stop calling, 4-5-6 times a day for over 4 years. I finally got rude, called them names, hung up, got an answering machine, then finally called the phone company and told them I wanted them blocked. They told me they don't do that anymore, and I had to go make a complaint at the police department. I said WTF, your not going to do anything? and they said no. So I said, OK, disconnect me. What? I said, you heard me *******, disconnect this line and don't call me again.
They tried to call back and I just hung up on them and unplugged the phone. I got a throwaway cell phone the next day and haven't had a telemarketer call since. ;)

By the way, I just got off the MagicJack to a friend in Oregon after a 35 minute phone call, and it worked perfectly. :)
