first one is way out of focus, and in the third, were you trying to shoot the runner or the sign?

Photo 1 – I have the runner out of focus to put emphasis on the spectators and the Boston Marathon banner hanging from the pole. (should have crop the motorcycle out)



Photo 3 – Same thing, seeing the crowd cheer for the runners passing by.

For me, the first one simply doesn't work, the runner is too isolated and the crowd too far back. The third shot is better in terms of highlighting the crowd. I like the second shot :)

I like number 2 also. I'm not sure you can get the whole motorcycle cropped out without taking a chunk of the runner :-o

I run almost every day, but I have never had the desire to run a marathon!

I know how difficult it is to make track and field shots look creative, thats why I like # 1. Unique prespective.
