Is it usually necessary to re-process (i.e. up the saturation) of images once they have been converted from aRGB to sRGB? My online image looked dull in comparison to the original aRGB image. Thank you!

Are you sure you've done the conversion properly? Image -> Mode -> Convert mode in PS CS. Mine look pretty much the same after i've done that and 'save for web'.

Like Tim says, make sure you use convert and not assign in Photoshop.
Adobe RGB has a larger gamut than sRGB, so it is possible that there are some colours, especially very saturated colours, that can't be represented in sRGB.
When converting, try out different rendering intents and see what happens. I usually use "Perceptual".

What do the different choices do exactly?

The rendering answer has to do with how out-of-gamut pixels are mapped on conversion. It is too long to answer in a post, but there are many on-line tutorials and comparisons available if you search. I use Perceptual rendered with Adobe most of time, Relative sometimes depending on the image, and never use the other two.

Here's a page that explains the different rendering intents:

Thanks Tim and Jesper... I'm going to try this tonight. I'm not sure what I did last time... I was just happy to have uploaded a picture. But these forum members are so demanding... they expect the image to look good too!

you guys are the biz... after ust buying a printer this weekend... without this resource, i'd be totally lost, head stuck in unfathomable manuals for hours. Instead, a quick search of the forum, and up pops the info i'm looking for :D
