I tend to not take my camera around because of the fact that all my bag are kinda cumbersome or just not fast enough for me to pull out my camera. i was thinking of something like a sling bag like those old gap ones back in the day where u can just pull easily to the front and grab what u need right away. i would love to see one with quick access pocket just for my 5d and 24-105 so when i see a nice shot i can just whip it out. right now i have a 5mdh, 7mdh, and a dakine bag with camera block. 5mdh is too small and just feels bulky and the other two are too big and slow. the 5mdh is a little slow also. will be selling it soon most likely.
anyone have any suggestions to if this bag actually exist or similar ones. it would be nice to have extra space for a flash and maybe a lens and misc stuff. i dont really need a small bag i just want one that i can access my camera really quickly without have to take off the bag to do it.
edit. sorry i just looked at the lowepro site and saw some. but any others is greatly appreciated.

You may also want to consider a small Domke bag.

You can try a kata 3N1 10/20/30 depending on how much gear you want to carry.

My slingshot 200 fully loaded was very uncomfortable to wear. All the pressure was on one shoulder so my back started hurting after about 1-hour.

Can I suggest a Lowepro Primus too.
I know it's not a sling bag, but it does have a quick access zip on the side. Simply slip the left shoulder strap off and you can get your camera out in seconds. Comfy too, as has been pointed out, fully laden a slingshot can be wearing.
On the +/- side, it's bigger than a slingshot so you can keep food, clothing or more camera gear in the top compartment, but you may be after something smaller.
I can access my gripped 450d with 70-210 lens in just a few seconds, I've been very pleased with it.

man i really off today. i searched youtube also. maybe its was just bad search query by me.
stopped by fry's today and picked up the 200 aw and they charged me the 100aw price since they couldnt find the tag for the 200w. i have to say that the 100w is super small to what i thought it would be. 200 aw is i think about the size i like it. not too small not too big. i brought all my gear in my sig except my flash to test it out and they seem to all fit well in there. only thing i can see being a problem if i end up picking up a 70-200 f4 later on. im gonna test it out for a month or so and see if i like it. if not i just put it on the sell forums here. now that i have the 200aw the 5mdh will be up for grabs soon. i really do like the sling bag part of it, just wish it was a little bit better looking. too boxy i think.

I have and continue to use a Tenba Large messenger. I carry it to work daily and it fits my laptop (in it's sleeve) and in the camera sleeve (5D + 50/1.4 mounted, 100-400 in one compartment and a 430EX in the other).
Search for reviews on POTN and a view review on youtube. I have tried several bags and eventuall returned a Naneu pro tango, sold my 7MDH and now own a Tenba Messenger large and a Kata T-214 Torso bag for like hikes (This will be modified to clip onto my Gregory backpack when I go on the longer hikes).

If, as I read it, you just want to carry a body and lens, take a look at Domke's F5XB. If you want a little more, consider their F3x. Outstanding bags designed to be easy to work from.

Yeah, most would advice from the slingshots now and get the fastpack. I was going to say make me an offer on my Tamrac and it'll hold a 70-200 attached. I don't use it much anymore.

I love my Kata 214. It is a torso bag as well as a sling bag. When I am in the City, I can get to the stuff with one zip pull. It's rugged and wonderful, comfy is an understatement. And Jon, I did figure out how to carry it. :)

I agree - and the zip for the top compartment broke quite soon.
Also - for us more generously endowed females - not very flattering at all!
I now have a Lowepro Flipside 400 AW - this is a rucksack, but had a wide waist belt and the camera is accessed from the part against your back - so to get it out, you take your arms out of the straps & swivel it round to the front. Also it makes the gear very secure when wearing.

I did the same research and ended up with a Lowepro Fastpack 350. It's a really nice backpack with a fast access on the side, can carry a 17" laptop and extra stuff in addition to camera gear. Matches airline carry-on specs (unlike Slingshot 350 AW) and is made of water resistant material (doesn't have an all weather cover, though.)
Here's a review of the 350, you might want to consider the smaller versions too, maybe a 200 since the 7MDH is too bulky for you:

I would use a Lowepro Stealth Reporter 200 or 300 AW. It's got a zippered slit access in the top to allow quick retrieval of the camera.
It has a good number of high tech features otherwise. I wear it across the chest at the hip. Very fast access.

I have the Slingshot 200. Play with the configurations. You can get a lot more in there than you think.
I have, at all times:
40D with Tamron 17-50 mounted
70-200 F/4 L IS
2 Additional lenses (any 2 in my sig)
Flash
extra batteries
filters
blower
cloth
random st
if my sigma and 85 are in the main compartment, I can fit the 50 in the top compartment.
This bag amazes me at what it can hold for it's size. I am doing a custom mod to add a tripod holder.
And with all that stuff in it, I never feel the weight.

Tamrac Velocity series is what you are looking for. It's an across the shoulder type sling, is very quick access, well padded, and comfortable. When you don't need it, it slips to the lower part of your back and stays out of the way, but for quick access it swings to the front of your body without having to remove any straps. The top opens away from you, so you don't have to fight with it when digging for your camera.
I have worn it hiking, biking, and around the city with ease. I have the Velocity 9x, and can carry my 24-70 f/2.8, 70-200 f/2.8, and my 430EXII, and still have room for my eventual prime purchase.

The only down side to the Slingshot 200 ( that I use ) is that it is rather easy to over load with glass and that makes it a bit to heavy for one shoulder.
In my SS 200 for my last Alaska trip I had 40D with 17-40 F4 L mounted, 70-200 F4 L, and 100-400 L, 50mm 1.8 and random other non photo kit stuff(multi tool, Passport, note pad ect.) CF cards, batteries and charger, and 430 speed light, 1.4x tele, and it was getting heavy for wearing all day.

thanks for the info guys. i have to say that i am one of those guys that totally overloads stuff in my bag. this bag right now is just for quick uses when im out and about since i can get to the camera really fast. i saw 100aw and it barely fit my 5d and 24-105 in the configuration i wanted it. it definitely would not have fit the grip with the 5d if i had one and will soon get one.
so for now the 200aw is the one to go. will play with it a bit and see. i already loaded everything in my sig and i can see this weighing me down a little. i doubt i'll have all this stuff with me when im going out to just shoot around. im already interested in the other bags that has the laptop compartment in them. im a big fan of those. i cant stand having to go thru other things to get to my laptop. that's why i have the northface surge. great bag and tons of compartments. if only northface makes one of those in a camera version.

M-Rock Arches. Not many people seem to know about them. I got mine new from someone here in the sale forums. I absolutely love it. Size wise, it is between a flipside 200 and 300. I can fit my gripped 5D in the bag, with the 70-200/2.8 with the hood reversed. Then there is another pocket which can be opened from the slinged in front of you position, that opens which easily swallows the 70-200 (my longest lens) so you could go even bigger.
If you lay the bag down, and open it all the way, there are 2 adjustable pouches on either side of the main body/lens insertion area.
The other nice thing which is lacking in the Flipsides is that there is an integrated rain cover.
