I just noticed my post count, and i've just flown thru 3000 posts and not even noticed until now! Last time I looked it said 2800 or something. I've only been here 5 months, 20 posts per day average. I can't believe how much i've learned so quickly here! I also can't believe how much money i've spent... Visa loves me! The 2.8 IS lens is looking really attractive right now, thanks to a good sized tax refund :)

Thanks to all the people who've answered my many, many questions, and I hope i've helped a few people out myself.

OMG you post whore.

J/k mate, your posts have been valuable, and always willing to ask more questions, look details, and then pass the knowledge onto the next people who ask the same questions.

Well done..

And you only joined a couple of days after myself . ;)

I have free time at work while software gets built, I have to wait for the PC quite a lot, so I tend to hang out here. I wonder what percentage of the server load I account for...

I've made 20 posts since I made that post 4 hours ago... maybe I need to get a hobby. Hold on, this is my hobby! ;)

This time could be spent advertising for selling your photos. :p

In general I don't think there'd be much demand for my snaps, though I did just sell some earlier this evening... :) I'm in the process of setting up a more commercial website, complete with content management and a shopping card. How hard could it be...

... very.

LOL

Do you have an online billing account?
Just use paypal?

I could get a website done, and use Westpac's Merchant system to do it. Hopefully I could get a cheaper rate.

I'm a Java developer, i've been doing web based development for years, not just html stuff, back end systems and integration with legacy systems. Heavy duty stuff in other words, for government departments mainly, but some big businesses.

Setting up a CMS system and shopping cart is pretty trivial in comparison, though integration with a billing system would be more trouble. I could use Paypal, but that would put many people off. I think most people would rather use a credit card via a trusted site, or I may just do the simple thing and say "please transfer $x to bank account xyz or mail a cheque to". With credit card you'd get more impluse buys.

Any idea how much a bank would charge to accept credit cards? Monthly fees, or on a percentage basis? I can do all the technical stuff myself.

I believe banks charge depending on how much business you have associated with the bank, and also how many sales will be running through the system.

I can't give specifics but some info is here
http://www.westpac.co.nz/olcontent/olcontent.nsf/Content/Retail+and+merchant+services

with a contact number. For some reason, they won't give branch staff access to rates etc. I don't know whether it's $10 a year or $500. Could be anything. :p

It's probably more than i'm willing to pay - ie very little. I think i'll stick with the cheque/manual deposit idea for now, thanks for your help Wazza.

Next time i'm in Auckland I must send a few PMs to people, I know there are a few other people from this board up there, it might be nice to meet some of you.

I don't know if you would have time to fit it in your busy schedule of posting here. :p

Anyway outta here for me.

It would be cool to meet some more people.
I've had PMs from almost every NZ member it almost seems, would be cool to catch up with some more soon. Come on Moppie. :p

Wow. Those are nice toys you just ordered :) I wish I could get something like that. Actually I'd pick up the 85/1.8 and 70-200/4L instead hehe. I don't have *that* much cash.... needa job first.

Congrats on breaking the 3000! :)

So I had to look up your profile. You're at 20 posts a day!

Then I had to look up Marie....only 10 posts a day.

You do have a lot to say (usually informative, fortunately).

To infinity and beyond!

Cheers. The 85mm 1.8 was out of stock, so the decision was made for me!

Usually? ;) I do post a lot, sometimes questions, sometimes answers, sometimes irrelevant stuff like this entire thread ;)
