When I connect the USB cable, I hear XP Pro recognize the camera, but I can't access it either through explorer or zoombrowser. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software numerous times, to no avail. I have even reinstalled the OS.

Zoombrowser keeps telling me it can't communicate with the camera, and prompts me to change the settings, but the settings are fine.

Any ideas?

I am using the CD that came with the camera, which states version 8.

Thanks

I use Xp's camera wizard to unload my photos to the computer. Works fine. I just do not use windows xp's editing program to edit photos.
Hope that steers you in a better direction.

Conk, I have a newbie question for you. I saw some of your pics (very nice, BTW) and noticed the term Metering Mode=Matrix 5. As a new A40 owner, I'm not sure what that is. Could you explain it for me? Is it a camera mode or does it have something to do with software? Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure what that is. It may just be the setting after the camera meters light. I think somebody like Eland or Roger would likely have an answer to that one.
Sorry:(
Thanks for the photo feedback too.:)
