Just wondering.....

I am in Montreal for the next couple of days and was wondering if anyone would recommend using my 50mm 1.8 outdoors as it is overcast here or if I should stick to my 18-55 kit lens?

If so, what kind of settings for shooting landscape/building types of shots around the city would be most recommended for all around nice shots?

Thanks a lot

Hi 328iGuy,

actually, we recommend you to use whatever works best for your image, brightness and composition

There is no harm in taking both with you (that's what camera bags are for) and trying out on site wich one gives you the better picture. Still, DOF at f/1.8 might not really be sufficient for landscape or building shots.

You can always use ISO 800 (or even 1600 or 3200 with the free noiseware communitiy edition) or a tripod to get sharp wide angle shots at f/8.

Best regards,
Andy

Well I wouldn't shoot at f1.8, would bump it up however I Will take both lenses and check it out.

May look at picking up a LowePro Mini Trekker AW here this morning to carry my tripod! ;)
