I was involved in a road accident on Monday when the car I was travelling in was rear ended by a HGV. Unfortunately my camera bag was in the boot which was pancaked! The kit looks unharmed (thankyou Lowepro bag) but I need to send it back to Canon to be checked over as the impact was very severe and the car was written off. Can anyone give me an idea of the price Canon will charge to examine the gear and quote for repair? My insurance company will only pay the examination fee if an item is subsequently repaired.
Thanks
Jon

I'd suggest that you call your local Canon repair facility and ask them. What they may charge will depend on a number of factors, including what equipment you have.

Thanks for the replies. I called the Helpdesk and talked to a chap in India (!) who could only tell me to package it up and send it back to Canon UK so I'm back to square 1. I explained that I just want my kit checked out in case it is busted up internally but he didn't understand why I would want to do this - according to him it either works or it doesn't. Now I'm a bit perplexed.
