View Full Version : will leaving my battery grip ON while the camera is OFF kill my batteries?

i've made it a bad habit to leave the grip ON (i always forget to turn it off). just wondering if this slowly drains the battery faster than if everything was off.

hmm good question.. I sometime do that too but havnt noticed any battery drains.

Has never happened to me. I beleive this switch determines the use of the buttons not the supply of power.

:) I don't think I've turned mine off since I put it on the camera, never noticed any difference that I'm aware of (doesn't mean it doesn't). I wouldn't think it would make any difference because all the switch seems to do is turn on or off the grip controls, it doesn't kill power from the grip to the camera (shown by the fact you can still turn the camera on even when the switch is turned to OFF).

The on/off on the grip only enables or disables the buttons/switches. With that said, my grips, Phottix and a Canon do not drain my batteries.

If it does it's so microscopic that you'll never notice it.
