Folks,
I have heard that Dell Ultrasharp monitors are one of the bests for Photographe's needs. Can you confirm or suggest something else?
Thanks.
Alex.

Apple Display, although it's kind of expensive. Well, whatever monitor works as long as it's properly calibrated.

Anything with 178 degrees horizontal viewing angle and 15ms or slower response time (indicators of an IPS panel). Take a look at the Apple Cinema Display spec sheets if you want a reference. Or if you can look at it, viewing it from an extreme angle yields a purple tint, instead of yellow like it is for most monitors.
Or...
http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/panelsearch.htm and type in "ips" or "pva" and set the right box to "panel". IPS > PVA, but costs more (of course).

I've recently purchased a Dell 2209WA 22" e-ips monitor and am very pleased with it

The Dell Ultra Sharp 2408 24" is currently $419 + tax. It has a PVA panel.

Price is now back up to $600.

and that would be a decent Monitor?
Apart from Apple, what else is there and might be better than Dell>?

It's a good monitor at a good price. It depends on how much you want to pay and what kind of panel you want.
This link might help.

Sorry, this will be no help at all - but I spotted this yesterday on Wired:

I absolutely love my NEC LCD2490WUXi. Calibrates great, uses an internal LUT, and the image quality is fantastic.

That is what I hear, some people say that NEC is better and more reliable, easier to callibrate

Alex - I have no idea if you are in the US, but I picked up a 24" Samsung for about $280.
Love the monitor!

lol, I'll tell you what .. say what you will, but I love my recent purchase: 22" Westinghouse .. ;)
It was inexpensive, flat finish (cant stand bright sh!t) and it blew away most of everything
that was with-in a hundred bucks of it .. prints are a bit lighter then what I get on-screen,
but that's easliy adjusted in no time at all .. I'm very pleased with it .. very!

I am not in US....so this is a bit more difficult. Things are about 60% more expensive here...especially Dell and NEC.
How would you make your analysis to purchase the right monitor?

I was just wondering, what are the other options that could be as good as Dell 2408WFP 24"?
In US the cost of this monitor is about 500 USD and in Poland is 900 USD. Dell is very expensive here.
So I am looking for a monitor which is as good as this one, but just cheaper in Poland.....I do not know how to find one.

hmmm... you can order 2 x 2209WA. Its better to have screen real estate than a single 24" monitor.
What you can do is, you can try and find a shipper in the states, get dell to ship the monitor to the package forwarding center and get them to ship you your monitor (obviously at a cost). if you have relatives in the states, its time to ask for favors. LOL
