Very central, and DOF doesn't quite reach forward to encompass the main subject area. The background blends in a bit too much, and I find the whole thing somehow uncomfortable to look at... my eye wants to leave the centre but doesn't know where to go. Cheers, Tony

It almost makes it.

The background being skin tone, is this to emulate a giants face? Because if so, to me, this eye is complete... eyelashes and all!
Kind of freaky!
If you like, I can PP it so that you can see what I'm trying to say :)

I think its the shape of the feathers drawing your eye down and right that detracts from the image the most...cheers

Ooh, I like that second one... looks more like an eye now

Second shot's compelling for the textural detail it brings out, having more in focus, and a better balance and flow to it. Eye like it a lot, including the regions of shadow and light behind. Cheers, Tony

If I am required to treat the image as one of an eye, then I might vote differently. But if it is just a question of which is the most artistic image, it would be the original - not the close-up.

Hey Chunli,
As requested here is my (poor) attempt at showing you what I saw using photoshop (it's poor!)

I like the second one better than the first, but don't care for the backlighting.

Much better in my view...
It also highlights the eye more too.
