I realize I have difference bags for different occasions. I have one backpack which is my "beach" backpack. I have another for when I ride my bicycle. I have shoulder bag for my Computer bag, and I have a Canon backpack for my camera. I can not get to "walk around" with my camera, because I do not want to take multiple bags.
I am looking for a case for my Rebel XS which could probably just fit a kit lens, where I could just throw it into any bag that I am carrying and go on the road. Does anything like this exist for cheap?

What you are looking for is something called "holster bag".

There are some options:

I was thinking the same thing; a nice, padded little case to put inside of my old, ordinary looking canvas messenger bag.

I find a bag bothersome for walking around, so if I need to carry more than just my camera & lens on a shoulder strap I carry belt pouches for my flash & other lenses.

Any padded holster will do. You may be able to search at B&H website for one made from neoprene, but most are very well padded and not much bigger than the camera and lens.
