What do you think of this contraption this guy has come up with?

Could be pretty special for motorsport?

Here's his Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/linayaya/3544285629/in/set-72157618114910522/) account for more photos.

I have friends who use a similar device for pro video cameras. All it does is give you a sense of stability, but actually, your body doesn't move any less, nor does your chest and abdomen. Holding your breath works just as well. The guy at the station who machined the parts sold only two or three before the word got around.

The only thing that really works is a SteadyCam.

I like the umbrella holder, but the other photographers I shoot with at races would clown me with no end. I tore a huge hole in the crotch of my pants at the last race and I caught on 3 separate occasions they where photographing it to post at a later date for further clowning. I could only imagine all the photos of me and my umbrella walking around. Although I do like the idea of carrying my own shade all day.

I guess its cheaper then buying a Tiffen Steadicam Merlin Arm & vest mount for $1,895.00. Although I would probably go with the Steadicam version as it doesn't look so home made.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick
