I have a Giottos MT-7371 with a Giottos MH-3300 head. I have absolutley no complaints, other than because it is large, it is quite heavy to carry about (I wanted it that way).
My carbon fibre Velbon 530 is also a fine piece of equipment, lighter, but smaller than the Giottos. I bought it with a priority of light weight.
My previous tripod, an aluminum Velbon 600 Sherpa, worked well, but I decided it was too short for its weight. It had the virtue of lower cost (at the time) than the two I have now.
From what I have read on this (and other) forums over the past couple of years, it seems Giottos and velbon are considered a cut above the flood of cheaper Chinese manufactured tripods, but below the standard of Gitzo (this would be my consensus of the opinions expressed).
Giottos, which is Taiwanese, appear to have attempted to bring a larger feature list to a less expensive (but not cheap) price point.
Be aware of these things when you read comments on this forum ... first, the small number of respondents probably makes any opinions expressed statistically unreliable; second, some people comment about one brand versus another based on use and ownership of just one of the brands; third, be sure to read the date of the postings, as you may be reading comments and opinions from as far back as 2005 that have little bearing on equipment produced more recently; fourth, respondents who bought brand X, after a lot of research, may not have a purely objective view of any criticism of their brand of equipment.
