Zane, how do you get on with a Western saddle? Every time I have used one it has taken a few painful reminders before the combination of the high cantle at the rear and the horn at the front made me change my riding style. :confused:

I was disappointed to find one can not lay forward due to the horn. i guess cowboys don't hug their horses while riding*shrug* I did not like that you can not feel the horse well. I am used to riding with subtle shifts of seat and leg aides(pushing with a leg) to move the horse about. With the western saddle it felt like I had a wood framed cow wedged between the horse and me. I see why they don't wear helmets though, falling off would be difficult unless the horse was trying to get you off.

I bought Dan and Lisa's straps and did THIS (http://blog.tonyschreiber.com/2008/06/19/the-best-two-camera-strap-setup-yet-part-ii/) with them, except I didn't have them looped into each other. I did that so I could easily take them apart and use one strap if I wanted. I actually ended up with a double crossing in the back.
