I would like to ask for advice how to improve this image via processing.
Any kind of critique is appreciated.

I like it too. The tinted B&W conversion is nice for this shot.

This is timeless.
Only thig I question is the line where the haze ends at the top of the page. Possibly a hood thing.

I tried to get rid of the color cast.

I actually like the color cast very much, it lends itself to this climate for me. But the B&W is a lovely rendition as well.

I think it look good. But have you tried to use the cool blue tone of the B&W instead of the green/orange? I think the cool/blue tone will add the temperature/cold feeling to it...

Thank you guys for the incoming nice replies.

First of all Flo ... ah gosh I totally misinterpreted your reply. I was looking for critique and found your candid reply.. I kinda expected you miss the frame from it for a delicate presentation! :P

I am very bad at this quote here and there... so I will reply one by one...

I actually totally agree with you... could you suggest a technique to have that line diminish?

I very much appreciate your help! For me B/W is a bit too harsh, too rigid for this photo. Too much contrast so to speak. Well... my mum just vetoed me and she said your B&W version is the winner one... ;) anyways I somewhat prefer my tinted version, even though I would have never thought that I would say this on a winter topic.

When I come back from a meeting I will give your suggestion a try! I agree that in a way the tone is a bit out of ordinary regarding a winter composition... well lets see:) Will be back to you!

Well, simple answer is crop the top.
you could use a gradient, but that might change the wonderful haze that gives the photo a dream-like quality.
Is it a shadow from your lens hood?

I think I'd cut it off.
By the way, I'm pleased you didn't try for a "Standard" crop.

No further work is needed to the picture. It looks timeless and it captures a winter mood. Great job.
