Canon PIXMA iP5000 Color Cast with BW Prints

My PIXMA 5000 is producing sepia like prints from black and white images.
The Grayscale option is checked & I am using Canon paper and ink. I would have thought that the printer would use the black ink for grayscale but apparently not. Has anyone else seen this? Any suggestions for a fix?

Its' not just the Pixma that does this - my S9000 pumps them out with a green cast to them.
I print in colour and leave the Grayscale unticked. I get over the problem by upping the red content by about +20 in PS.
Don't know if this will work for you but have a play around.
