View Full Version : Somebody stop me!

I just could not help myself in the camera store. Needed a zoom to make up for the loss in my heart, when I sold my tamron 28-300! Got the 70-300 DO IS USM the other day. That helped me feel a little better. But then that empty feeling started again. Well today I am complete with the addition of a Canon 28-135 IS USM. I they my entire wallet into the charboriler at work today. Kinda dumb, but it certainly will stop me until I can get replacement cards! LOL. Will post some pics as soon as I get a chance to play with this little monster!

throwing your wallet into the Charbroiler at work?

Not a bad idea - I may consider that technique myself. :)

Glad to see that you're complete (for now).

BTW, how's your outlook on the wide-angle side? :D :D

Yeah me either. I had every intention of getting an L lens today. Looking at the 17-40, but not enough diff form my 10-22, they wanted 1600 for 24-70 and say this baby there. I am still L free. Broke but L free.

You got the 100-300! Good deal - its a very good lens. Don't worry about the L disease; be thankful that you don't yet have it.

And be extra thankful that you don't have Zeiss-itis either - it's worse. :)

Dante, looking at your latest collection, I don't see any reason to jump to the 17-40 unless you might want to use it as a walk-around lens. It serves that purpose quite well on the 1.6 cameras.

$1600 is a bit steep for the 24-70 BTW.

The 28-135 IS was my first lens! All others had to measure up to it. The IS is fast and quiet on this lens. The zoom is solid and the reach of 135 is really a plus. I loved is for indoor school activities and great for closer outdoor sports. If only it would let a little more light in...like f2.8. Plus this lens was < $500 at the time.

I'd say you made an excellent choice. Don't forget to post pics.

Fast thinking, that, Dante: lobbing the wallet into the fire yourself before your wife could beat you to it!

Cheers, and enjoy using your new gear.

yeah no problem I saw a tonganeese made 28mm for 5$ on ebay. Its no return and I think it said it was made from half an old coconut shell and half a spam can. Cant remember AV speed or mount, Oh yeah comes with 5 feet of red duct tape to mount on any camera.

Its all yours buddy!

I just bought a Canon 28-135 IS today. I walked into the camera store just to talk lenses and 20 min later I walked back out with one. Played with it some some when I got home...my preliminary testing of it was comforting. Nice Lense!:)

Raymond, Yes you are correct. The itch never really leaves.

tmunson, I was actually shoppong for the 17-40L. It overlapped with my 10-22 EFS, and I have heard and seen nothing but good about it, BUT the difference in price was my driving factor. I have yet to take any pics with mine and I doubt I will until monday! :(
