Zoombrowser EX (version 3.1) froze before I could exit the program. Now Zoombrowser will not let me access the database. I get this message "You cannot open more than one database at a time. Close the database before opening a different one." "OK" "Please open or create another database using the database dialog which is accessed via the Database menu command." "OK" I'm stuck! So I copied the database to an external drive and deleted it from the C drive. Then I am able to start Zoombrowser without the immediate error message. However, when I try to access the database from the external drive, I get this message: "Failed to open database file "F:\MyDatabase.zbd." Please ensure that the database file exists, and that both the file and the directory are not read-only. If this error persists, the database file may have been corrupted." The database file does exist and the file is not read-only. It is marked as archived and I don't know how to check the directory. I was in the process of backing up the photos when the problem started. Any advice on how to retrieve these precious photos would be greatly appreciated.

What does the database file do? Does it just cache images? If so delete it. I don't use the Canon software, I find it crappy to use, I use DIM from alanlight.com to download my photos.

The best advice is to get a card reader and download the photos directly from the card. Use DIM to make your life easier and automate the copy from the card to the PC.

Try a different browser to view your images - they are almost certainly all there, intact. For a good free trial version try downloading Breezebrowser from www.breezebrowser.com.

You don't even need Zoombrowser to download from your camera, if you use a card reader you can just copy your image files to your hard disk using Windows explorer.
