I have just bought the BG-ED3 grip for my D60 and find no instructions enclosed - can anyone explain how to install the grip (and remove the battery cover if required)

If you flip open the existing battery cover and check the hinge, you will see that there is a little spike on the spindle of the hinge that is spring-loaded and will cause one end to retract. It's simple to do this with a finger-nail or small flat-bladed screwdriver.
It's also easy to replace the cover, if you want to use the camera without the BG.

in the BG is a place to store the door so you can't lose it

Talk about feeling stupid.... I was ready to re-package my grip and send it back because it would not work when I realised it has a separate on/off switch.
one other thing - as you have no instructions I should tell you that your grip will work with one battery in it or with both in it.

....or even with the AC 'plug' in it instead of a battery.

Thanks all so much for good responses - now if only someone could press the shutter at the perfect moment for me.
