What is your comment about this lens as I am planning to get one for amateur photography? Thank you.

I've got the IS version, and its great... as long as you don't mind lugging around a heavy lense. I've never cursed a stuffed shot because of the lense... its all the operators fault now :D

You are already choosing one of the best zoom lens available in Canon's line-up. You have no regret of getting this lens.

I have been using this lens (NON IS) for a while and it works great both on my 20D and my 1V.
I had bought a sigma 70-200 2.8 HSM but I'm glad I've spent some more bucks on this great lens.

The IS version will give you more flexability for not that much more money.

You'd never be sorry that you got the IS version. You might be sorry some day that you didn't.

I got the NON-IS version.... it is a great piece of glass!!!
Get the IS version if you think you are going to need it. If not... get the NON-IS and save the difference (or buy another lense :) )

Dear Friends,
I am so glad to have received so many repiles in such a short time as this is only my first post here. I thank you all of you for your valuable comments.
I am hoping to get the lens sometimes next week (without letting my wife knowing the price ):p
Maybe the IS version will be more suitable for me as I do not want to miss my little Princess Tiffany's smile who is just over 1 year old. It will be difficult for me if I have to carry the heavy lens around together with a tripod and to obtain good shots on this fast crawling subject.:p
