Just saw this post by canon on the BG-2. Finally after 8 months we may get it fix'd

Interesting. I received my camera and grip at the beginning of April and have over 2000 shots on it with no problem. Wonder if I got lucky...

Unfortunately they didnt mention the biggest problem... power loss due to a loose fit with the grip.
I know it affects most of the grips, since the second one Canon sent me has the same problem, and I've tried 2 in stores, and seen many posts here.
However, the power loss is only for a fraction of a second, then the power comes back on, so most wouldnt notice. However, I'm not taking a chance of losing pictures in the buffer, and any other problems that would go along with repeated power loss.
When I have my 420EX attached, the extra weight pulls the camera away from the grip so that any movement while holding vertically will cause a power disruption. Just turn on your LCD and watch it go out (the camera won't stay off though, it comes right back on).
