Apple has anounced updates to MacBooks and MacBook Pros

Lower prices on MacBook Pros - Start at $1700, and battery life increased.
Pros: $1699 - 2.53 GHz, $1999 - 2.66 GHz, $2299 - 2.8 GHz

Mac Book is now "MacBook Pro 13 Inch" - the return of the firewire 800 port.
For 13-inch “MacBook Pro”: $1199 you can get the 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo; 2.53 GHz Core 2 Duo for $1499

New prices & updates to MacBook Airs also.

I want to see the actual specs, though.

What I can't believe is that Snow Leopard is only $29. That must be an upgrade price from Leopard. I suspect SL retail box will be $129.

Also the 13 and the 15 inch will now have an sd card reader built in.

What I can't believe is that Snow Leopard is only $29. That must be an upgrade price from Leopard. I suspect SL retail box will be $129.

It's $29 for Leopard users - Wow. I wonder how Microsoft price Windows 7?.

I can't wait for snow leapord! But I'm very happy with my current classic MBP! Glad they have brought firewire back...

Good to see Apple looking after those using Leopard and running the 29 dollar upgrade. Always love seeing a new or even improved version of OS X. Roll on release time!

If you've been thinking about getting a MacBook now is the time. Since the aluminum unibody MacBooks are essentially being rebadged as MacBook Pros you can get some killer deals on refurbs in the Apple online store. The white MacBooks are going for $749, while the 2.0 ghz unibody is going for $949 and the 2.4 for $1099.

There's no distinction between an upgrade disc and a retail disc. They're going to be the same. What you're supposed to do is take one of your OS X coupons (you should have three, that came with your retail copy of OS X or that came with your computer) that is proof of ownership of say, OS 10.5, and just hand it over when you go buy the next version of OS X.
